Q4 2023 Sandbox Games Performance in the UK: Trends and Insights

The sandbox gaming category has seen varied performance across its top titles in the United Kingdom during the fourth quarter of 2023. Data from Sensor Tower provides a snapshot of how these games have fared in terms of downloads, revenue, and weekly active users.

Roblox experienced a significant spike in downloads during the holiday week, jumping to about 204K, while revenue peaked at over $1.1M in the final week of December. Weekly active users followed an upward trend, culminating at over 5M users.

Minecraft also saw a notable increase in weekly active users, reaching over 1M in the last week of December. Its revenue rose to approximately $161K in the same period, and downloads saw a high of around 10K in the final week.

For The Sims™ FreePlay, the revenue saw a gentle rise, with the latter part of the quarter bringing in approximately $46K. Downloads hit a high of about 14K in the last week, while active users increased to nearly 65K.

IMVU: 3D Avatar Creator & Chat presented a mixed picture, with revenue fluctuating around the $17K to $24K mark and downloads peaking at over 5K in early December. Weekly active users saw a peak of almost 69K in mid-December.

Lastly, Avakin Life: 3D Avatar Creator exhibited a consistent revenue stream, ending the quarter with around $13K. Downloads reached over 1K in the final week, and active users showed a slight increase to just over 10K.
